It’s England after the first world war when most of a generation of men were lost and the ones that come home came home changed–compounded by the great influenza epidemic that killed thousands.  The impact would change England forever.  Daisy is an Honorable, daughter of a viscount.  Daisy, having lost father, brother and fiance, talks herself into a magazine job.  Lest you think this series is all gloom and doom, remember this is the roaring ’20s, with those pesky emancipated women.  In the first book, Daisy meets Alec Fletcher.  Alec may be the epitome of the new England: middle class, college educated, a former officer and pilot, now a Chief Inspector at Scotland Yard.  He’s a widower with a young daughter and a mother who lives with them.  The one thing that Alec’s and Daisy’s family have in common is the disapproval of their relationship–class belongs with class!

The social changes in England make a marvelous and exciting background for murder, mayhem, and mystery at some wonderful English country estates, on the train to Scotland, and at the Royal Albert Hall.  Carola Dunn has been writing for over 20 years and the deft, sure touch of experience shows.  These are wonderful stories with Requiem for a Mezzo likable characters, intriguing plots, lovely settings, and exciting times.  What else could you want? —--Mysterious Women

Carola Dunn works cozy magic with the twists, turns, scenes and pulls you right into her chosen time frame for an interesting read. I am glad I read the first one first but these are also good stand alones for people who like, cozies, like historicals, line Englinsh novels and writers – or all of the above. I highly recommend Daisy and her adventures.

    Write on, Carola 🙂

    Best always,
